Wie von mir nicht anders erwartet bestätigte mir die Leiterin der Immigration
dass die Wahl des Visums bzw. die Änderung ohne Probleme möglich ist.

Man geht also vor Ablauf des alten Visums zur Immigration natürlich nun
ausgestattet mit mehr Unterlagen als bisher für das Retirement-Visa und
beantragt das Verheirateten-Visa wo nur noch 400000 THB im Jahr als
Rente/Pension oder Barmittel in der Höhe nachgewiesen werden muss.

Es ist unbedingt darauf zu achten
dass ein Mix* = also Rente plus Barmittel,(*Änderung im November 2009)
wie bei dem Retirement-Visa (800.000 THB) nicht möglich ist.

Visa für Farangs verheiratet mit Thaistaatsangehörigen                                     müssen die Barmittel 400000 THB entweder durch einen Renten- oder Pensionsbescheid (bestätigt durch die jeweilige Botschaft) oder mit eiem Kontobuch auf dem 400000 THB mindestens schon 3 Monate verbucht sind nachweisen.

Desweiteren ist in beiden Fällen darauf zu achten dass auf dem Kontobuch, auf dem sich die Barmittel befinden nur der Namen des Visaantragstellers aufgeführt ist.

Auch ist darauf zu achten dass das Geld mindestens schon
3 Monate auf dem Kontobuch eingetragen ist.*

*Als Nachweis der Barmittel auf dem Kontobuch ist eine Bescheinigung der Bank 

  bei der Visabeantragung vorzulegen.

  Das Kontobuch ist zu kopieren und auch im Original bei der Beantragung

 As I expected, the head of the immigration confirmed that the change from retirement visa to marriage visa is possible without problems.

One goes to the immigration before the old visa expires (of course now provided with more documents than before for the retirement visa) and applies for a marriage visa. The advantage is that one only has to show 400,000 THB (as opposed to 800,000) in the bank or as a pension.

It’s very important to remember that it’s not possible to use a mix (pension plus money in the bank) to reach the 400,000 THB (changed in November 2009) as it is with the retirement visa (800,000 THB).

Foreigners married to a Thai national who would like to get a marriage visa have to either show 400,000 THB in the bank (that money has to already be in the account for at least 3 months) or a pension notification (confirmed by the respective Embassy)

It’s also important that the bank book only has the name of the visa applicant listed.

A written Conformation from the bank concerning that bank book has to be submitted with the visa application together with a copy of that bank book plus the original.
